On Moving To Substack & Friday Joy Report
In June 2024 I (Sarah Kruzel) stopped primarily writing on my blog and instead switched my writing to a platform called substack. To read this post in the Substack App or website click below.
Welcome to the switch up into writing on Substack! I am so glad to be here and learning this ride along side you. I am both a reader and writer and as a reader I have loved having a cohesive place to come find words from some of my favorite internet follows rather than sifting through emails and spam to get to them.
A few reasons for the switch -
Writing on Substack is free. You may not know this but creating on the internet often comes with subscription costs that add up. A domain, a web hosting service, a subscription to send out weekly emails, ope and then when your email list grows you have to pay more, or if you want to send more than one email a week you have to pay more…. it’s getting annoying and this seems like a good fit for now.
Substack values writers. One of the things that really sold me on the switch is that this is a platform that is set up for people like me to share words in all sorts of formats. Who knows…maybe the podcast will get hosted from here one day!
I want this thing I get to do on the internet to feel like a community. My DMs are full of women sharing that they need the message of “taking the pressure off” and if you found your way to this corner of the internet, my guess is being met with others who are taking steps to more fully enjoy their lives will feel like a breath of fresh air too. I am happy to be the middle man, the introducer, the question asker until you feel comfortable to share… but just know you’re welcome here!
Every Friday…
Every Friday for the last month or so, I have been sending out a weekly roundup of things I am thinking about, paying attention to, and loving lately. Since we find ourselves new to this whole Substack adventure on a Friday, I didn’t want today to be any different. If you’ve been around for a second, I often say that I want Friday emails to be light and breezy like if you came over for a glass of iced tea and we were in our sweats on my couch. We’d inevitably share about what’s making our life these days. So without further ado…
Friday Joy Report:
CALLING -
This week Danny’s truck got broken into and his wallet snatched up. While there hasn’t been much joy in that, calling the folks at Lawrence Glass in Nashville has. They are some of the most kind, professional, and courteous people to work with. We both couldn’t speak more highly of their service. If you’re in Nash and ever need a window replaced, tuck their contact away for a rainy day. (No I didn’t get paid to say that, who even is she recommending a glass repair place?! #adulting)
WALKING -
Taking a stroll at sunset is BIG JOY for me. My favorite park in our area is Harlinsdale and it’s extra joy because we got engaged here almost 2 years ago. I hope you have places where you let out big sighs of relief, for me, this is that one for the moment.
PINNING/CREATING-
I have been obsessing over small home, cottage core vibes on Pinterest lately. I even tried making a thrifted collage wall on theme with this style. A major thrift tip for art is looking through the book section. You can’t really tell in the middle photo but all the photos I cut out for the frames were from an art book on English country sides. Ahem could you get more cottage core? I think not. Enjoy this Pinteresty collage.
As always I am thankful I get to share joys with you and I hope that if you have joys from your week that you are dying to share that you message me with them! Happy weekend to you!
